The Devils head into the week as the 4th seed in the NHL Eastern Conference and second in the Metropolitan Division standings. New Jersey is 7-1-2 over their last 10 contests and hosts Las Vegas Tuesday night before hitting the road for games against the Nashville Predators (Thursday) and Dallas Stars (Friday).

New Jersey is a +1600 (DraftKings) favorite to win the Stanley Cup, but the odds decrease to +800 to win the Eastern Conference and +235 to win the Metropolitan Division. New Jersey is two points behind Carolina in the Metro standings, and the best bet is for the Devils to win the Metropolitan Division at +235.

Center Jack Hughes leads the team with 30 goals and is a +3500 favorite to win the Hart Trophy. Hughes is 6th in scoring and 8th in points and will need a solid 2nd half of the season to overtake odds on favorite Connor McDavid (-3500). Hughes is a +5000 favorite to win the Top Regular Season Goal Scorer Award, but he’s 10 goals behind McDavid, and the Edmonton Oilers star will be difficult to overtake.

Defenseman Doogie Hamilton is 4th in scoring and leads with 29 helpers. Hamilton is a +4000 favorite to win the James Norris Trophy, but he’ll need a big 2nd half to catch up to Erik Karlsson (+280), Cake Makar (+290), and Adam Fox (+380).

Devils goaltender Vitek Vanecek has been outstanding this season, posting a 19-5-2 record with a 6th-best 2.32 goals against and a 91% save percentage. Vanecek is +10000 (DraftKings) to win the Vezina Trophy, and he has stiff competition, like -150 favorite Linus Ullmark.

Tuesday, January 24 vs. Las Vegas Golden Knights

The Devils are a -170 favorite Tuesday and have a good matchup with the visiting Golden Knights.

Vegas has lost four of its last five but has a 15-4-2 away record. The Golden Knights are missing several defensemen but could see a boost with the possibility of winger Mark Stone suiting up. Logan Thompson is expected to patrol the crease, and he’s struggling with a 1-4 record over his last five starts.

The total is set at 6.5 goals, and the best bet for this game is the Under 6.5 -120 (DraftKings). New Jersey has scored 17 goals over their previous six home games, well below their 3.00 season average. Vegas scores nearly four goals per away game, but they’ve struggled offensively over their last few away contests without Stone.

Thompson has allowed nine away goals over his previous five starts–Vanecek has let eight pucks slip through the pillows over his past five home starts. The goaltending will shine, both offenses will struggle, and this game will end Under 6.5 goals.

Thursday, January 26 at Nashville Predators

New Jersey boasts the best away record in the Eastern Conference (18-2-2) to a good Nashville club boasting a 12-7-3 record at Bridgestone Arena.

Nashville is 4-1 over their past five home games, meeting a Jersey team that is 4-0-1 over its past five away contests. The Devils are 2nd in away scoring, and the Preds might have a difficult time matching New Jersey in the scoring department, and the Devils should win a closely contested contest in Nashville.

Friday, January 27 at Dallas Stars

The Devils play their 2nd game in as many nights when they head to Dallas for a matchup with the Stars. Dallas has a slim, one-point lead over the Winnipeg Jets in the Central Division standings.

The Stars are 3-1-1 at American Airlines Center and are 2nd in scoring at home, averaging 3.7 goals per game. The Devils are 4-2 with no rest, but New Jersey backup netminder Mackenzie Blackwood is 2-3 over his past five starts, and Dallas should be too much for New Jersey in this one.
